The Sandy Run Ruritan Club held its semi-annual Adopt-A-Highway trash pickup on a rainy day in May; however, the rain did not dampen the spirits of the sixteen members who participated. Thirty bags of trash were picked up from along the highway. Members joined together at the home of Gerald and Becky Starnes to enjoy a hamburger and hot dog lunch.  Everyone also enjoyed the delicious desserts prepared by Betty Geiger and Kay James.

The Sandy Run Lutheran Church members also held their trash pickup on this day and joined the Ruritan members for lunch.

This was truly a day filled with the Ruritan motto: Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service.
