2003 Christmas Float

Sandy Run Ruritan Club members prepared a float in the fourth annual Sandy Run Christmas parade honoring those who have served and are serving our country in the global war on terror.  The parade was held December 20, 2003 and was sponsored by the Sandy Run Coon Hunters Association.  “A Yellow Ribbon Christmas” was the theme of this year’s parade. Yellow ribbons were all along the parade route as well as on each parade entry.  The Ruritans placed an oak tree with one hundred yellow ribbons on their float. A special treat was having the Ruritan Rudy Bear ride on the float and throw candy along the parade route to children and adults.  Sandy Run Ruritan Club member Curtis Lake was dressed as Rudy Bear.  Special thanks to Curtis for helping make so many children and adults smile.  In the float competition the Ruritan club was a recipient of the fifth place trophy awarded by Peggy Nelson from the Sandy Run Coon Hunters Association.   Congratulations Ruritan’s on receiving this trophy and being a part of the parade honoring our service men and women.
