2002 Christmas Float

Sandy Run Ruritan Club members worked hard gathering information on all the businesses located in the Sandy Run area and preparing a float honoring those businesses in the third annual Sandy Run Christmas parade.  The parade was held on December 21, 2002 and was sponsored by the Sandy Run Coon Hunters Association.  The names of eighty-four businesses were represented on the float.  The float also featured signs depicting two of the Ruritan club’s major projects in 2002.  These projects were the painting of the US map and the presentation to the K5 students of A Book About Me at the Sandy Run School.  The Ruritans also displayed a sign thanking the community for their support in 2002.  A special treat was having the Ruritan Rudy Bear ride on the float and throw candy along the parade route to children and adults.  Sandy Run Ruritan Club member Curtis Lake was dressed as Rudy Bear.  Special thanks to Curtis for helping make so many children and adults smile.  In the float competition the Ruritan club was a recipient of one of the five trophies awarded by John Culler from the Sandy Run Coon Hunters Association.   Congratulations Ruritan’s on receiving this trophy.
