March 2004 Adopt-A-Highway
Sandy Run Ruritans gathered Saturday, March 27th, for their
first Adopt-A-Highway trash pickup for 2004. Ruritan members enjoyed
having Jamie Keller, Coordinator for Calhoun County Adopt-A-Highway
program, as our special guest. Ruritan members picked up fifty-six bags
of trash along Highway 176. Sandy Run Lutheran Church also held their
trash pickup on this day and picked up sixty bags of trash along Highway
176.
After the pick up, everyone enjoyed hamburgers and hot dogs. Ruritan members
participating in the trash pick up were Jonney Albert, Millie Black, Dave Boney,
Gary Hardee, Glenn James, Kay James, Precious Mayer, Ruben Mayer, James
Robinson, Marshall Stabler, Becky Starnes, and Gerald Starnes. Lena Stabler,
who is recovering from foot surgery, was there giving us moral support. Sandy
Run Lutheran Church volunteers were Linda Bozard, Karen Dowd, Pastor Bob
Hawkins, Charles Ott, Elaine Ott, and Martin Phipps.
Thanks to the Sandy Run Ruritan Club and to the Sandy Run
Lutheran Church for helping make the highways of Sandy Run litter free.
