August 2004 Adopt-A-Highway
Saturday, August 21, 2004, thirteen members of the Sandy Run Ruritan Club
gathered together to pick up trash from along two miles of Highway 176 as
a part of the Palmetto Pride Adopt-A-Highway program in Calhoun County.
Ruritans participating in this trash pickup were Jonney Albert, David
Atkinson, Gay Atkinson, Dave Boney, Herbert Geiger, Glenn James, Kay
James, Howard Pees, Lena Stabler, Marshall Stabler, Becky Starnes, Gerald
Starnes, and Andrew Yancey. When Ruritans completed their task, they had
picked up forty bags of trash, which they carried to the trash dump. What
a difference it makes to see sections of the highways in Calhoun County
cleaned up by the various groups that participate in the DOT
Adopt-A-Highway program. Thanks to all for your hard work.
